Christmas 2007! new
When the sleep apnea continued, I made an appointment to see my pcp at the end of February, I brought up the subject of weight loss options and she talked to me about medication.  I really didn't want to take any prescription meds and thought OTC was safer, so I started  Hydroxycut and gained weight! ugh weight loss pills are supposed to help you lose weight not gain it, I loved the energy I got from it so I stayed on it.

I went back to find out if Blue Cross Blue Shield would cover my surgery, or to finance the surgery through one of the clinics here in the US.

I knew there had to be a way to have surgery, I started searching and found Dr. Grossbard had a partner in Mexico, Dr. Ariel Ortiz and I could get it done there for under $5,000 everything included.

I set up the surgery and had to lose 5% of my body weight.  Everything was ready until our financing fell through.  So, I rescheduled my surgery, ...and had to reschedule surgery again - my insurance denied my claim to have it GLB! something to save someone's life grrr

I rescheduled and got on another insurance plan that paid for it, sort of - they upped my premiums by $150 per month and wouldn't cover the surgery in Mexico and only cover 20% in the US.

I got so frustrated I cancelled my surgery & insurance totally and just stuck with what I was doing to lose my 5% body weight before surgery.

This is the picture that I took with me to the seminar:

When March came around and I hit 39, the reality of turning 40 loomed on me.  For some it's a joke and they take it with a grain of salt.  I've always been young feeling and couldn't believe I was going to be 40!! and really felt like I was dying.

I took what information I had from the surgeons office and used it to start a new lifestyle.  I used high protein shakes, low carb foods and exercise. Low carb, high protein; and cut out sugars and exercise 15- 20 min; 3-5 times a week.

I wanted to be realistic, so I set a goal of 175 lbs because the lowest I have weighed since 1990 is 173. I was okay at 173 and when I get down under 200, I will decide if I want to lose more.

In July when I got my hair done, the lady we have gone to for years and my husband went to HS with noticed I had lost weight.  She told me she was taking Phentermine with some of the women who worked in her salon.  She had so much energy and was losing weight, NEVER hungry and she didn't have any side effects like I feared.  In the back of my mind, I kept replaying what my doctor told me about medications.

In July 2006, I went to a weight loss clinic and found they required you eat ONLY 500 calories per day ! yikes that was as much as I had at dinner - exercise made me starve.  I went to another clinic and they just had you  cut your meals in half and started on 37.5 mg of Phentermine.

I didn't want anyone to know, so I kept it to myself until I could see some results; I felt so bad that I kept it from my husband.  After the first day, I knew it would help me - nothing else had ever made me have absolutely no appetite until that day.

I had some hope.
Many of life's failures are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
